KEEPING FIT THE EASY WAY
- EATING & EXERCISE -
I used to run 10K a day - I’m serious every single day - and to be honest my body didn’t really benefit from it. I still wasn’t very toned and I just couldn’t work out why. So fast forward a couple of years and I now only go the gym about three days a week and I’m in better shape than ever.
So I wanted to write a post to share with you what I’ve learnt over the years to maintain my figure the easy way. First a foremost your diet - always remember it’s 80% what you eat and 20% how you workout. So you can run 10K a day but if you’re diet is off balance then it’s not going to do you any good. I cut out dairy, alcohol, white carbs and stick to a grain, fish & vegetable diet. I’m not strict with it so if I’m out for dinner or fancy a rosé then I help myself to it but for the majority, in particular my down time, I stick to the healthy options. After a while your body also no longer craves the artificial additives that most foods are pumped with so you begin to enjoy eating healthily.
Fitness - So I cut down the cardio and started lifting. A lot of women in particular are put off by weights as they think it will bulk them up but this couldn’t be further from the truth. I used to run as I thought that it was the easy answer to a flat stomach and an amazing derrière. In actually fact my body got so used to the cardio that it didn’t effect me anymore and I was just having to run further and further to see any sort of menial result. Switching it up to strengthening exercises was the best thing I ever did. You can mould your body in a way you want and if you build muscle you will continue burning a load more calories even after you have left the gym as your muscles will keep working for you.
So you’ve cut the crap out your diet (no cheating) and you’ve ditched the cardio - now what exercises should you do? I started off by following fitness accounts on Instagram to learn about different exercises. This was great but I found it was hard once I was in the gym to follow as I always had to search for them. I was then introduced to an App called FizzUp and I must say I’m usually one to shy away from new apps as I’m a creature of habit however this was exactly what I was looking for.
In short it’s basically like having a personal trainer on your phone at all times. You have a personal trainer on screen going through the exercises with you, so all you have to do is copy, it couldn’t be simpler. It records how well you do each session and will push you to complete new goals to help you achieve your desired body.
You can access FizzUp from your smartphone, tablet, computer and TV so a workout is possible any place any time perfect for if you’re on-the-go a lot.
No equipment is necessary as all exercises strengthen with your own body weight. However if you do own pull-up bars or kettle bells there is an option to incorporate them too.
With FizzUp PRO (an additional option) you can also design a work out specially catered for you. I’m trying to grow my bum or just make it perkier in general so I chose the plan dedicated to tackling this. There are a variety of options to choose from to sculpt your body in any way you want.
One of my favourite parts is the FizzUp Nutrition Guide which is perfect for healthy meal ideas. It’s always difficult to keep your diet interesting on a strict nutrition plan but they have some great ideas on there which so far have tasted really good! It also gives you an idea of the sort of food you should be eating if you are unsure of what a healthy diet is as with typical supermarket advertising what is classified as healthy can be misleading.
